Introduction
BTC: Learning to Live by the Two Commandments of Jesus:
Focus: The focus of this Study Process is to deepen understanding of what it means to “Walk in Mercy while holding to Grace.” It also encourages folks to share God’s Love with others everywhere in Unity of the Spirit of Christ.
Foundation in Scriptures: One of the Bible Verses at the Foundation of this program is Two Commandments of Jesus, “To Love God and To Love Others,” as seen in Matthew 22: 37-40 (KJV):
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Method & Theme: “Becoming the Church Guided Study Experience” includes ten “Phases” of Study covering topics which define what the Church really is as a state of consciousness within, rather than a location; but the Studies also take the reader on a marvelous tour of all things related to Christian Life such as the meaning of Communion, Forgiveness, Prayer, Spiritual Warfare, & much more, but from a perspective of what it means to walk in Mercy while holding to Grace.
BTC Part 1: With a focus on “Love God” from the Two Commandments of Jesus, the opening chapters (Phases of the Study Experience) support the development of our personal relationship with God: “The Word,” “Baptism,” “Holy Spirit & Grace,” “Communion,” and “Prayer.”
BTC Part 2: With a focus on “Love Others” from the Two Commandments of Jesus, these questions and more will be explored: “Am I called by God to a Ministry?” “How do I best prepare to serve in the Ministry or Office to which I am called?” “How can I best be a Witness to others about the Love of God, even when I might not be using words to witness with?” “What is pure and authentic evangelism?” “How can walking in Mercy and holding to Grace help me in my relationships with others, including my marriage & family?” “How can I develop better communication skills?” “How can I take responsibility for how I perceive experiences and also how I respond to them?” “Can Spirit lead me in how to help others?” “How can I as an individual or my church help others in my own town or in a place where God might lead me to?” “What are some things I can do every day to share God’s love with others? ” “What is the difference between mission-work that offers temporary assistance versus long-term, self-help community development options?” “What might represent a good balance in life between home life, work, exercise, nutrition, spiritual life, recreation, etc.?” “What is my first ministry?” “What are the advantages of ongoing Bible Study?”
Five Chapters (Phases of Study) of BTC Now Available here at MOTL Online Library: A device-friendly version of the first five Phases of Study are included in the options at MOTL Online Library, as a courtesy to those who would like to get started reading; and for those who wish to take the whole course, the entire BTC Study plan will be made available in both eBook & paperback formats. The projected release date for BTC, Vol. 1, Pocket Edition & eBook, is October 1, 2018.
Step by Step, One Lesson Builds upon the Other: As you complete each Lesson, you will have the opportunity to check your own understanding of the content by answering a few key questions and also to consider how the information from that page can be applied in everyday life. After completing the questions, there will be a button to click to connect you to the next Lesson. You are welcome to begin at any time and share with friends and family, as the Spirit leads. Short-Term or Comprehensive: BTC Study Plan Phases can be read in sequence or any individual Phase or article can be used as a Study in and of itself.
Resources for Individuals & Groups: BTC Study Plan is ideal for either individual seekers or groups such as cell-ministries or home-churches. In addition to the Plan itself, there are other Commentary resources offered at MOTL Online Library such as Blogs, Videos, and Life Application Articles or an amazing tour of the Bible via, “Genesis to Revelation” (comprehensive) or “Short Bible Studies” (topical) by Rev. G. E. Newmyer as Guest Scribe.
Spiritual Support: This study is offered freely to all members of the Body of Christ, (regardless of denominational affiliations or absence thereof) who are committed to deepening their relationship with God via His Spirit in order to become “spiritual in nature.” As Fruit of the Spirit develops, any of us can become better vessels for the “Witness,” as seen in our love for God and others. Here we see the term “Witness” defined in 1 John 5:6 (KJV):
“This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.”
