Got your “Love Glasses On?”
“Seeing others, as well as ourselves, as having moved beyond problem areas in personality, onto greater levels of maturity, is all part of applying mercy. This is a hard concept for some people because they have been taught to react to others based on current behaviors; but “loving folks through” does not mean we have to stand in the path of anyone’s destructiveness. It just means that we see the potential any soul has while we continue to “love by example” ourselves. (“There but for Grace go we.)
The only thing we have to lose by doing this is misery. Love sees the outcome of good, even if we have to do it from a bit of a distance….at times…but the deal is, don’t stop “seeing” the good. It worked for Paul when Christ knew who he really was.” – Chaplain Ann M. Wolf
