Am I a Sinner?

racoon

Nothing is wasted in this journey of growing up spiritually, not even our errors. Some like to call those errors “sins.” Did you know that the word “sin” comes from archery?  As the expression goes; one can “sin to the right” or “sin to the left” of a target. Having said that; we can safely assume that we are all “sinners,” since it is a certainly, that at one time or another, what we have “projected out from ourselves” has fallen short of the mark.

But even when we err, we can grow from those discoveries; we can thank God for the “exposure” of our problem areas and turn to the Spirit for strength and perspective, remembering that the mercy of God is new every day.

Do you suppose we could hit the target better when centered within the influence of the Spirit? Could the answer to the so called “sin nature” be, to get centered in the Spirit, keeping our eyes on the Light, changing our core motivation and therefore our behavior?

So, to answer the question here….of course we all have “sinned.” But again, the emphasis at Message of the Lighthouse/Lighthouse Leadership In Action, will be to focus on the Spirit and support the change in natures from flesh-based to spiritual, and I am quite certain that with God’s help, we can become more masterful at our archery skills.

Do I have to give up all my bad habits?

Don’t worry about “what you might have to give up” or “change” because as you walk with the Spirit of God you will likely adjust many things about your life and habits; if there are things you need to do differently then you will know in your heart, what to do, over time.

By the Spirit, not only will you be able to make those changes, but also, chances are that you will naturally want to and likely be ready to do so. So just begin with peace and as you trust in God, peace will lead you through.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”- Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
